Things are really happening on the Danish folk scene these years. Baltinget are in the front line of this movement. They released their debut-CD “Live” in 95 with great success and were invited to represent the Danish Broadcasting Coporation at the EBU Folk Festival in Roskilde 1996.
Firmly based on the Danish fiddle tradition, Baltinget play traditional Danish tunes with respect for their roots, yet without turning te music into museum piecces. Their respect for the old masters contrasts with a devil-may-care style and a fine feeling for the swing in the music. This is also characteristic of their own compositions.
During the last four years Baltinget have played at almost all Danish folk festivals, recently including the famous Tønder Festival. Now Baltinget plan to present some of the power of Danish traditional music on a tour througout Europe next Summer.
