Listen to music from Kaare Norge with RealAudio. Homage HERE - Lauro HERE
In the year of 2000 - twenty-five years after receiving his first guitar, Kaare Norge can look back on a career which has offered numerous challanges and highlights. Kaare Norge was admitted to the Academy of Music in Jutland in 1980, being only 17 years old. Here he received lessons from the international highly esteemed professor, Leif Christensen, until his debut concert in 1988.
The outstanding reviews of the debut concert was one of the reasons why Kaare Norge was invited to the USA to receive additional 3 months of tuition from the world-famous virtuoso, Manuel Barrueco. His stay was completed with two highly praised concerts in New York and New Jersey.
It was partly because of these 2 concerts that Kaare Norge later, in 1996, once more, was invited to the USA in order to give several concerts and masterclasses together with live performance on a radio station in California with 12 million listeners.
Kaare Norge has given concerts over most of Europe and has had outstanding reviews in many music magazines. As an example the distinguished French reviewer, Alan Miteran has called Kaare Norge´s transcription of Bach´s Partita no. 4 in D major "...a valuable enrichment of the guitar literature..." and the English reviewer, Colin Cooper, already predicted at Kaare Norge´s record debut in 1989, that he had "The dimensions of a star in the making".
Kaare Norge´s career has been a traditional/untraditional, successful course with app. 10 albums, some 100 concerts a year and regular appearances on television and radio - but most of all the untraditional has made Kaare Norge famous. In 1990 he entered into a contract with Genlyd/BMG and was then marketed on the premises of pop and rock. He was the first Danish classical musician to perform on the big scene of the "Roskilde Festival", in 1992, just as he was the first in Denmark to make a classical video - so far three in number - and the first Scandinavian guitarist to join the Internet.
His repertoire is also partly traditional, but with the main focus on baroque and Spanish Folklore. Kaare Norge has also searched in other areas. He has played and recorded together with the flamenco virtuoso, Juan Martin, he has recorded new compositions of , among others, Søren Hyldgaard and Kristian Borregaard, he himself has composed music of which the best known is "Homage to Life" - the theme from a broadcast on Danish Television - "A Natural Explanation". He has issued the CD "Morning has Broken" on the CMC/EMI label. The CD contains 14 classical versions of rock`n`roll/pop megahits. This very popular and reviewer praised CD secured Kaare Norge both a gold and a platinum record.
Kaare Norge´s 8th release, autumn 1998, has also earned gold as well as platinum. "Classic" is a voyage through the history of classical music, illustrated by newly composed arrangements of monumental works e.g. Bach´s "Air", Beethoven´s "Für Elise", Schubert´s "Ave Maria", Ravel´s "Pavane to a Dead Princess", "Classic" furthermore contains Norge´s own composition "Homage to Life" in a new arrangement with string accompaniment performed by The Praguer Symphony.
Christmas 1999 Kaare Norge´s CD "Christmas" was released - a beautiful bouquet af classical Christmas hymns and chorales in magnificent classic arrangements by (among others) Fuzzy and Christian Borregard. Kaare Norge performs together with The Kassandra Quartet. The album also features a new composition by Kaare Norge in his own arrangement: "Noche Buena".
In March 2000 "La Cumparsita", - the album much praised by the critics- was released, which mainly consists of latin inspired music by: Albeniz, Tárrega, Morel, Paganini, Pipó and Ponce. Kaare Norge also contributes to this album with a work in 3 movements: "Hombre y Guitarra", inspired by his southbound journeys and the intimate characteristics of the Spanish guitar.
