Kort om The Jime
Den danske rockabilly trio The Jime har eksisteret siden 1983. Grundlæggeren, guitaristen/sangeren Vince Gordon er den eneste der har været med i hele perioden. Idag har vi Kris "The Duke" Andersen på kontrabas og Jan "Sticks" Friflet på trommer. Endvidere sidder Mads "Tiny" Andersen fra Mike Andersen Band, Kim Wilson, Otis Grand, Roscoe Gordon m. fl. ofte ind på trommer ved koncerterne.

Internationalt er Vince Gordon anerkendt som en af verdens bedste rockabilly guitarister. Se evt. RockabillyGuitarist.com i Texas. Hans vokal høster også mange roser hvilket er kommet bag på ham.

The Jime's vigtigste indflydelser har været Jerry Lee Lewis, Stray Cats, Chuck Berry, Eddie Cochran, Buddy Holly, Elvis og al god rockabilly.

Hvad er rockabilly?
I Danmark er der mange der kalder rockabilly for 50'er rock eller rock'n'roll. Det er typisk for rockabilly at man bruger kontrabas og ikke el-bas. Nogle af de mest kendte rockabilly sange er "Rock Around The Clock", "Shake, Rattle and Roll", "Hound Dog", "Heartbreak Hotel", "That's All Right Mama", "C'mon Everybody", "Summertime Blues", "Stray Cat Strut", "Johnny B. Goode" og "Blue Suede Shoes". Endvidere findes der et utal af kendte ballader inden for rockabilly genren.

Nogle af de rockabilly kunstnere vi kender bedst her i Danmark er Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Stray Cats, Chuck Berry, Eddie Cochran, Buddy Holly og til en vis grad Shakin' Stevens.

Guitaristen, pianospilleren, sangeren, sangskriveren, produceren og teknikeren Vince Gordon (Lasse Rosdahl), Kris Andersen på kontrabas og backing vocals og den hollandske trommeslager og backing vocalist Dennis Brandwacht udgør en potent, yderst velspillende trio. Stilen er rendyrket Neo Rockabilly, og The Jime er et af tiden bedste bud på et sprudlende, moderne band inden for dén genre. The Jime - The Story

1983
Vince Gordon decides to form a rockabilly band in a math class in High School. After 10 minutes consideration he chooses to name the band 'The Jime', because almost all other rockabilly bands are called something with 'Cats' in the name.
Vince Gordon got an uncontrollable urge to play neo rockabilly after hearing The Stray Cats.
He also got an uncontrollable urge to leave High School!
He left with an straight A and told his chemistry teacher to "Stuff it!".

1984
The second founding member of The Jime, the drummer Mike Stain (a friend from High School), is dismissed because he can't be bothered to rehearse. It's a shame 'cos he showed real character by knocking down the booker at the first ever The Jime gig, because he didn't hand over the money fast enough!

1984-86
Vince is experimenting with the line-up, but he's not satisfied untill he finds a real 'Slap bass'-player (Johnny NoCash) and a 'stand-up' drummer (Jan Frifelt). Johnny's friend, the rhythm-guitarist Tonni, also joins the band. Noone is really satisfied with that - musically speaking - but he's a great guy to hang out with.

1987
The Jime starts off the year with a TV-special after which the label SALUT releases the LP 'Rockabilly Revival'. The recordcontract has been established by the intervention of Tonni Donvild. 'Rockabilly Revival' is the first rockabilly album release ever in Denmark.
The recordings takes 3 days and the mixing another 2 in Sun Studio in Copenhagen. It's a funny coincidence that the birth of rockabilly in Denmark should take place in a studio with the same name as the legendary Sun Studios in Memphis.
Later that year Tonni retreats from The Jime on a night where he's not completely sober. He takes Johnny with him in the fall and the next week Vince and Jan gets a new double-bass player and they start working on the blueprint for what would later become The Jime's special brand of neo rockabilly.

1988
Vince, Jan and their new bassplayer Torben Boedtker Nielsen do some recording sessions which results in "Gotto Be", "Wild, Wild, Wild" and "Bed Of Roses" among others. 'Gotto Be' was released (In a version with Kris 'The Duke' Andersen and Dennis Brandwacht though) on 'Mean Side Of Town' in 2000, but the groundwork was laid out in these sessions.
'Wild, Wild, Wild' and the ballad 'Bed Of Roses' have been re-recorded in the year 2001 in the original arrangments with Jan yet again on drums and will be released in the near future.

1988-90
The Jime do some gigs and some recordings and the occasional TV-appearance and Vince keeps on experimenting with the line up to get out the energy that he's looking for in the band. Mike Stain re-enters The Jime and although he and Vince are great drinking buddies it's not what it's supposed to be - musically speaking.

1990-97
Vince is fead up with gigging and only do few live appearances in this period. Instead he gets himself a fiancee and retreats to the studio to get the sound and the arrangements RIGHT! By the intervention of his guardian angel he's not prosecuted for his "bad manners" in this period...

1997-99
Vince gets back into the gigging scene with a vengeance and The Jime starts touring heavily. They get offered 7 (!) record-contracts for what is later to become 'Mean Side Of Town'. All in all Vince has spent 12 years (!) on preparing and recording 'Mean Side Of Town'.

In 1998 Kris "de Juke" Andersen joins The Jime without knowing how to slap. Vince spends about 10 minutes showing Kris how to do it and he's been slapping ever since. Kris allready knew about scales and music theory so he fell easily into The Jime's way of doing bass lines and solos.

2000
'Mean Side Of Town' is released in February (In Holland in November 1999 though). The Jime do PR tours, some festivals, Radio and TV to promote the new album. The reception of the album is nothing short of overwhelming.

2001
The Jime are touring heavily but also do a lot of recording. Jan Frifelt is back - primarily to do studio work. While Dennis Brandwacht is concentrating on the Dutch gigs, Mads 'Tiny' Andersen of The Mike Andersen Band plays the drums on most of the Danish ones.

2002
Jan Frifelt is hanging in in the studio, The next album gets done and The Jime signs with Nervous Records, UK.
The new album is called "It's Still Rock'n'Roll To Me" and will be out in January 2003!
